My Comp won't boot up...

I got a question. I got an old shuttle mobo and p3 cpu base computer. Well, with all the stuff hooked up, this computer doesn't boot up. I got jest basic stuff, cdrw drive, cdrom drive, vid card, modem, sound card, hd. I unplugged the sound card, modem, and cdrom drives so only the hd, ram, and cpu are plugged to the mobo. Before it wouldn't boot and it would make a beeping noise, now it doesnt boot not making any noise...like i said, any thoughts greatly appreciated...

If it's the mobo that's messed up, do you think if i bought a new cheap one, all my stuff would work on it, like the ram, it's only pc133. Yes, this is a sh1tty setup, but i want to give it to my sis, she uses for writing papers, and jest browsin' around online.

ok, when i meant won't boot up, i mean i turn the power on via the power button. the fans turn on, but nothing shows up on my screen. yes, my vid card is plugged in right, and the monitor is plugged into it right. 2 of the leds on the front turn on...um the green one on the right, and the red one on the left. i unplugged the cdrom drives, modem, sound card so jest the hd, powersupply, vid card, and ram are plugged in. but nothing still happens, and there is no noise.

oh I have a question about these forums. How come they only let me post when I'm at work? Is there like a certain hours new people can post at? Every time I log on at home and try to post something it says, you have been forbidden to post/reply.

Do you have AOL at home? If so, all AOL IP addresses are banned from AT.

Here is a troubleshooting guide I came across - it may help you pinpoint the source of your computers problem.

Pull ALL of the PCI / ISA cards, remove all memory and disconnect
any USB cables.

The only items you should leave connected to the MB are:

a. small internal speaker (case speaker)
b. power supply cable from the power supply to the MB
c. case switch wire from on/off switch to MB

Now power up the MB.

a. CONSTANT BEEP = CPU and MB are both OK. Replace the memory and a
different beep will sound. That means you have a memory problem.
Swap to solve.

b. NO SOUND. = Bad CPU or Bad MB. To find which:
1. Remove the CPU and Power up.

a. British Police Car Siren (high / low) = BAD CPU
It can take a moment or two for this sound to start.

b. Silence = MB is bad, CPU is OK.
