So my old modem was dying and i placed it with a new Comcast RCA DCM425C modem and am still getting speeds of around 670-800 download.!!

WTF. I pay over $50 a month for 6mb speed and am not geting it!

My modem is connected like this

MODEM----> WRT54G Router ------> Main computer im typing from, wireless to laptop

TCP recieve window: - 81760
MTU discovery:- Yes
Black hole detect:- No
Selective Acks:- Yes
Max duplicate Acks:- 2

MTU:- 1500
Windows scaling:- No
Timestamps:- No

Try replacing the wire to the router. Try going straight into the laptop and test speed without router?

6mbps doesn't mean you'll get 6 megabytes a second speeds. 6mbps = 6 megabits a second, which is equal to 750 kilobytes a second. So you're download speeds are right. It isn't physically possible to get over 1.25 megabytes a second on cable (which would be full 10mbps).

OK.
Ran dslreports TEST from CA (I live in philly)and got 2543 kbps down /350kbps up

Ran speakeasy test Wash DC (I live in philly) and gor 4950/350. Ran again got 7000/436

So whats the deal here. What should i set my tcp optimizer to. Help me tweak

that sounds normal to me. Different loads on their servers different results. Your just going to have to live with it.

Also remember that the speeds your account is given are MAXIMUM speeds. Depending on how many folks are on the same network segment, plus regular net latency, your speeds will usually be quite lower.

I have 5mbit from my cable provider, and DSL Reports speed tests from varying servers show me consistently getting 4.2mbit speeds...which is about right.

Repeat tests on the same speedtest servers can yield false results. Often times the file to be downloaded is already in your cache, so it appears to download even faster. I'd do single tests on various servers to get a good idea of download speed.
