What was the class average? Will there be a curve?

Don't give up yet. Learn from your mistakes, study harder next time, try different approaches to studying, get a study partner, etc.

I've seen people recover from far more disastrous semesters. You can, too :)

Your college career is not over unless you want it to be. I was a biomedicine major my first year of college and hated it. Dropped out after my first year and started going to a local community college. I loved my experience there and after taking some classes (at $11/unit) decided what I wanted to do with my life. I transferred out after 2 years and am back at university studying something I love~ graphic design.

I found that I really benefitted the personal relationship I was able to develop with my professors at the CC, something I didn't have at the UC.

Definitely. Whoever disses their local CC is a dumbass. Honestly, I see enrichment, dedication, intelligence, the likes of which I have YET to see in a mjor university.

I went to the UNIV because I got in and was proud that I got in. Look where got me
I GO to the CC because I WANT to go there to LEARN. I either get NO respect, or get treated like Sh!t by friends and family because I don't got to a major univ. Honestly, I don't give a rats ass.

If it takes these insults to further myself you better believe I will endure them.

No offense, but that doesn't mean Sh!t. College doesn't care who you are there. There are SO many people there that the Dean's list probably outnumbers your Highschools total population.

What matters is if you can, without a doubt, make yourself STUDY .

Dude, it's not the end of the world...

Sure,

1. You wasted your time
2. You wasted your money
3. You lost self-confidence
4. You lost your family's trust

However, life is not that cheap... nobody, seriously NOBODY, can tell you that you don't worth sh!t because you failed classes in college, even yourself!

If you were a party whore, going out 24/7, not giving a fvck, sleeping during the day, goofing of during the night, I would say, swallow it and shut up. But you deserve a second chance. Now think about it, and try to be your best friend.

Cheers!

talk to the teacher, explain your situation, ask for pointers/help/suggestion?
do they offer tutoring for this class?

Just hang in there and try to have fun. It's not the end of the world and I have known many people who have done worse and managed to graduate and do really well in life. Besides, it's always impressive to meet someone who started out poorly but then finished strong later on. You could be that type of person.

Maybe accounting isn't for you (it seems like a boring subject to me) and that's why you're having trouble with it. The key is to major in something you really like.

Just try changing your studying habits. Sometimes you have to study a certain way to do well on college exams. Maybe you just studied incorrectly.

Go to one of the study counselors at your school. Just because you did poorly doesn't mean you're a failure. You said you studied. You may just need to change your study habits or choose different classes.

Join the military. Your parents will be so proud that they won't yell at you for failing.

His joining the military, spending years in Iraq and maybe getting blown up does not sound like the best solution for not doing well on his midterms.

half the work = learning half as much than people who went to a harder school. If the degree is more important to you than what you learn, why not just buy a degree online?!?

"You know why the call it community college? Because anybody in the community can go there...crackheads, prostitutes, drug dealers, come on it! Community College is like a disco with books....'Here's $10.00 lemme get my learn on!' "

to start of with, don't ever tell yourself you're useles... it only makes things worse because you don't give yourself a chance to be motivated to do better.
next, remind yourself that you're a freshman. believe me, failing grades come as a shock to most freshman esp when they attend a really good school and the grading is tough.
Don't freak out! Seek your professors for help. Ask them where did you go wrong. Go to help sessions. There are boundless opportunites to go look for help.
Lastly, (someone mentioned it above) if all the help you can get doesn't help you in this field, you might want to think about another major that you like. Again, changing majors is a common thing, NOT a bad impression that you couldn't cope or anything. it's all about finding the major that's right for you.
that's college!

Obviously accounting isn't for you as everyone else states. This is why you take general ed classes - you don't have a clear vision of what you like and dislike and you may change your mind and major.

When you do find something you like, you'll know it. You'll study, but it'll come so easy and you'll like it.

I am going to drop accounting for good, but this semester i am finished for good regardless..there goes the end of my college career. Another economics test awaits me next friday.

I wish i could die right now or get bombed/shot. What can i do? help me...:(

I could shoot you if you want:)

Don't take it so hard, just because you got a couple of D's doesn't mean the end. You only need to work on your study skills and do better next time. If you just don't get the information, go get help! Join a study group, go to the library, but don't just give up! :)

Hey kinda look like my college grades! First semester 2.0, all C's. Next semester, the same thing! Then I got my things togather, and started studying. Didn't take any hard classes, just the easy ones, which I knew would boast my GPA. Graduated last may with a degree in CS!
