My Cloud EX2

I'm looking to add a network storage device in the 8TB range and have a few questions...

First, is the WD My Cloud EX2 a good unit and what other choices are there.

Second, my current router, Netgear WNDR4500, has all the LAN ports occupied and I'm wondering what the best option is to connect the NAS to the LAN. I could replace the router with one that has more ports or I could add a switch -- what's the best choice?

Also, how best to encrypt all or part of the drives. I would like to add an additional layer of protection with encryption but how best to do that and still allow access to that data from my PC's/laptops, smartphones and tablets both at home and away from home.

No idea about a WD My Cloud EX2, but, anything with "cloud" in it tends to suck for one reason or another.

Just use a switch, much cheaper than buying a router with a few more ports.

For encryption, what OS you using ?
