I have been trying all different types of cooling materials on my chip and when I started 7 months back with it I was pretty bad at applying different materials so now my chip is a damn mess. Does anyone know of a good way to remove gunk from a chip safely?
thanks,

ah...alcohol gets rid of everything :)

almost...hehe

if alcohol doesnt work, use acetone (nail polish stuff)...but make sure you wipe the area with alcohol after you're done.

Also, if that still doesnt work...if you have them, "industrial" strength solvents (NOT OIL BASED!) work REALLY good :)

there isnt a thing on earth those wont get rid of...i think :)

qtip is a tiny tiny risky, just cuz you could leave a hair on there...but it would eventually burn up..so no major concern. ive used one before.

i recommend a razor to spread.

Goo Gone = magic.

I seem to remember a thread that said acetone may damage the ceramic that the chip is packaged in. I did a search but couldn't find it, maybe someone else will have better luck? Anyway, you really can't go wrong following Viper's advice.

Dishwashing soap (like Palmolive, not dry detergent) + a Q-Tip did me pretty good. Just remember to use alcohol when ur done to remove the residue.
