My Chinese manhood keeps getting smaller every day...

... whenever I come to the realization that we might not be as good in Kung Fu as I thought we were in my younger days.

Okay, here's what I mean. When I was young, I saw "Enter the Dragon" and it made me think that Chinese guys were naturally better at Kung Fu than anyone else. Non-asian guys just seem kind of slow. Bruce Lee was ultra fast at everything -- punching, kicking, you name it.

As I grew up, I watched more Kung Fu movies. I was amazed by how much better Chinese guys look when doing Kung Fu. We kick higher, faster than the slow non-asian guys.

But now as I'm older, I'm beginning to realize that a lot of that "higher jumping" was done with tricks -- namely wires. I now see the fakeness in a lot of the fighting sequences. No human can do some of the things I've seen -- it must have been done with wires. The latest movies that I've seen with Jet Li obviously used a lot of wires and stuff.

Now, I heard Bruce Lee did not use any wires. And he could kick really high -- I once saw a black & white audition of him where he jumped and kick a ceiling light to pieces -- it was real.

But I sometimes wonder if Bruce Lee used some sort of "speed up" trick when filming. Did they film him in such a way to make him look faster than he actually was?

Anyways, this realization that us Chinese might be just as slow as everybody else in Kung Fu makes my Chinese manhood shrink a little bit more everyday.
:(

I can't comment on your manhood, but bruce lee was the real thing. I'm pretty sure that they actualy had to slow down the film on some stuff because he moved so fast.

do you have any before/after pics of your manhood so we can see if there is a problem to diagnose?

I thought they actually had to slow the film down so you could actually see Bruce Lee's fists and such?

Bruce Lee is real. The kicking on a ceiling isn't hard with practice you can do it.

Just training.

Yep. Many martial arts choreographers have the performers actually SLOW DOWN their moves because good martial artists move MUCH faster than can be accurately portrayed on camera.

Bruce Lee was know for his incredible speed actually, among other things. There's a really cool scene in Enter the Dragon. the part where he fights the big hairy white dude. The scene where they are standing facing each other with hands out. They stand still and then Bruce hits him really fast. It looks like one hit. However, if you slow down the film you will see that Bruce actually pushes the guy's hand down and THEN hits him. You can't see it normally. It's pretty cool.

Don't be racist. Bruce Lee was 1/4 European . . .. Anyhoo, he actually had to slow down for the camera to catch what he was doing, if that makes you feel any better.

And as for the stuff about asians being better at Kung Fu, don't be a dumbass. Have you taken Kung Fu? It's not a race issue, but rather a cultural issue. It's like basketball here - the level is higher in the US because there's so many great players and others with potential come here looking for better competition - the same applies to Kung Fu or any other martial art - because it's Chinese, it's much more widespread there than here, in the US. So, in effect, everyone goes to learn there and it's more common (hence better competition and more dedicated training) as well.

And the last thing should make you happy - look at Jackie Chan's movies, in ones where it was filmed in Hong Kong, he does incredible, insane tricks - if you lookat his US stuff, it's tame compared to that crap . . . partially it's his age, but mostly it's the US insurance that won't let him do it because there's too much involved . . .. So don't worry about Hollywood catching up anytime soon. CGI can't make up for everyhthing. ;););) (And the big-name martial arts flicks are chreographed by old-time Hong Kong choreographers, so you know where the influence is . . ..)

No he was in Return of the Dragon. the white guy was Oharra - Bob Wall. Here's a pretty interesting and funny interview with him. Some really cool things about Bruce too.

Woops here's the
interview

he wanted to hit me, really hard, and I said 'Go for it, I'm a professional' and so he did, like that side kick in ETD, we did several times, about the sixth or seventh time,he hit me so hard the thrust broke one of the guy's arms behind me ....
Bob Wall talking about a hit he gets from Bruce.
