i'm 18, my friends are going to clubs and bars in canada this weekend. If they're all 19 and up, say they get into the club first and i just trail behind, will they even card me? i mean im pretty tall and most people have NO idea im 19..i look like 20, 21.

so would it be a wise idea to go with them? i mean, if i dont get in they wont go in and that will suck. What do i dooooooo?

First of all.. where in Canada exactly?? 😛 Interesting how some of you guys always refer to the whole country instead of a particular city or town..

It depends really.. from my experiences, they only card you if you look young but there are some places that card everyone. You can never really tell. Just try getting in.. worst thing is they don't let you through.. just try the next club.
 
please don't do it!! They will get you all liquored up and try to indoctrinate you into their crazy Canadian lifestyle!!!! Next thing you know you'll be saying things like "aboot" and "oui".
 
If they serve alcohol, they WILL check for ID whether you look it or not. Sorry man, go somewhere that's 18+ instead. 🙂
 
You would think that Niagara, being a border town, would have a lot of problem with people coming over from the US just to drink. That would make me think they'd be pretty strict.
 
Go to Quebec where you have only to be 18. If you try elsewhere unless you're lucky you'll get carded and you won't be getting in.

Fake ID works pretty good
I had my brother in the bars at 14, he had borrowed ID but never had to produce it. Prolly cause he was sandwiched between me and my buddies.
 
Go to Quebec... the legal age is 18 there, mind you they really couldn't care less how old you are as long as you can see over the bar.. and i am not even kidding.. it's like that everywhere in that province.. it brings a tear to my eye!
last summer on vacation there, out of the numerous bars and pubs i was in, never got carded. it rules.
 
OK, I got a similar question!! 😀 I'm going to Montreal, and I'm 18 as well. What will the drinking age look like in Montreal?? And what about the clubs as well?
 
I don't know.. i'm from Canada and i've been getting into bars since I was like 16... they never ID anyone where I live anyways.
 
Simple geographical knowledge (or a quick search on google) will show Montreal as being in Quebec. It has already been stated numerous times in this thread that the legal age in QC is 18...
 
Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec are all 18 to drink. Yes you will get ID'd, it's customary to ID everyone now regardless of how old they are or look. I can't remember the last time I got into a bar without being ID'd....... o-yea, it was in Vancouver and Victoria..... where it's 19 🙂

One more thing... Please don't come up here, have 3 beer and be plastered, then hit on anything with 4 limbs and that walks. All the spring breakers were up here last week...... it was pathetic. I guess alot of them were 18 and never seen decent beer before or something. Cuse they had about 3 and were completely wasted. Trying to pick up anything that walked, and starting fights. It wasn't a pretty picture.
Come up, have a few, don't get wasted on 3 beer (we will all laugh at you anyways because american beer sucks so much, but that's another story), keep the pickup lines to a minimum, and please don't start any fights. deal? good 😛
