Ok heres the details of the gory battle...

My board has onboard sound but alas it's suck...and i want to use my MX300 instead. When i go into the mobo BIOS and disable all the onboard sound things its ok then i install the drivers, shut down, install the card and restart. Win98 finds the card, installs all necessary drivers, but it doesn't really work. No IRQ conflicts or anything but whenever i restart upon entering into windows monster sound notifes me that my card isn't configured properly...i've check all the settings twice and to no avail...

Ok thats the deal...I am grateful for your help...thanks

Here are some things to try:

1) use the Aureal 2048 reference drivers
2) do not install the SB DOS compatibility drivers
3) make sure that the mx300 is in a PCI slot that doesn't share IRQ's with anyother hardware.

Go here for drivers, installation info, and trouble shooting tips.
