My CD writer won't recognise CD-RW's

My matshita CW-7586 CD-RW won't recognise CD-RW's. Whenever I go to burn something it says the drive is empty even though the cd-rw is in the drive. I am using nero 5.5. Can I get drivers or somthing to solve this because i haven't been able to find any.
