Ok, the weirdest thing just happened. I booted up my computer and the cd and dvd drives were gone. They were seen in the bios but as soon as XP pro loaded they were gone. I checked under device manager and they are there. At first all 3 had a ! mark. I unistalled them and then did a search for new hardware. XP saw all three but when it was done it said there was an error and my new hardware may not work properly. Now only the DVD drive has an ! mark but none of them show up in windows explorer.

I also tried to do a scanreg /restore and I went back a month. But when it boots up it looks like todays.

I took two pictures of the error message in device manager. Click here to check it out.

Anyone ever had this happen? How can I fix it?

Thanks,

Fabio

Well, I did a search on google (greatest thing ever invented) and I came across someone who had the same problem in another forum. I was directed to this link and I got it working. Kinda weird cause it says it has something to do with unistalling Easy Cd Creator which I don't have or use. In fact I hadn't added a removed anything. I just turned the computer on and it was jacked up.

Oh well, all is well that ends well.
