A friend of mine's cat had its eye gouged out by a squirrel. I'm still failing to see why you would be proud that your cat got into a bloody fight with an unknown animal that may have been diseased and could have done some harm to your cat.

Not really proud of it, just a fact of life. I don't think it was a fight, a couple days ago he was chasing the squirrel and I scared the squirrel away (poor squirrel). The cat wasn't injured at all, leading me to believe he just wanted to hunt.

If it's going to be an outside cat there is not much one can do to keep him from killing. I'm going to get a bell for his collar though.
