Small tip for next time...

Use those "pounce" treat cans when giving your cat a treat. I shake the can so the treats rattle around inside, the cat will learn that the rattle sound = treats. Heck, my cat is soooo trained to that noise, that i can lure him out after he has been bad and is hiding under the bed.

Besides i'd rather stand in the yard shaking one of those cans, than yelling my cats name.

Maybe you will get lucky and it won't come back.....Cats are not good for anything except catching mice,birds,moles,fish,snakes,etc.....Go get a loyal dog....(Rot, or Shepard)

Many ignorant people on these forums concerning cats.

Cats are wonderful pets, I have two, one is a female and one is a male, brother and sister. Both are primarily indoor cats but go out for a few hours every day.

The female is very small and loves to sleep in this basket full of stuffed animals and likes to be combed. She is mostly a loner, but is very funny sometimes.

The male is very loving, very smart, very cool. He plays fetch with foil balls and sticks outside. He loves to be held like a baby and sleeps on our beds. He loves the recliner and one of the dining room chairs :D The kind of cat that likes to *cuddle*. He even opens doors! He tries to get in the attic sometimes by putting his two paws on the door handle and trying to turn it.

how old is the cat? we just got a cat a few months ago. We let it out when we had her for like a week and shes still a kitten and she finds her way back. unless the thing is 3 weeks old or hates you it should come back. Im not in the inner city, but Im like 2 miles from boston, not farm country or anything.

nothing to worry about probably

OMG our two cats are the EXACT same way! These treats are like an uncontrollable drug to cats. You shake that up and they simply can't say no.

Bump for a cat lover here. My cat ran out this year and never came home, so I was quite upset. My sister did get a new cat, but Spike will never replace Jeff.

Cats usually do come home, put out some food and there is a decent chance he'll come back.

Hope you find your feline friend. The suggestions by the others who like 'em are good. It really depends on how you usually communicate with your cat (tone of voice, etc.). Brutuskend is right about the can opener if you regularly feed him canned food.

I've had some good cat-friends. Good luck finding yours. :)
