With our cats, I just had to open a can of food and settle down for a minute. They came down on their own.

I tried that trick but she didn't react to it.

Could it be that she's looking for a mating partner? I heard from someone that some cats do this.
Isn't your kitty spayed /neutered? If she is in heat she may not pay any attention to anyone without something else on their mind. If it's a he, same thing.

Jesus people, it's a cat. It will figure out how to get down, & if there's any chance it will encounter a tree again it will need to learn how to back down. It's not instinctive, & it does take them a while to figure it out.

But he WILL figure it out, don't waste anybody's time calling them to get it down.

I know that she can come down on her own, but I'm afraid that she will come down when I am not around and get lost in the streets because we live in an apartment.

I'm just gonna do my stuff since there is nothing I can do about this, it seems. Her meowing does bother me a lot though.

She's 1. I'm not sure, but I don't think so. The previous owner didn't mention that, and I am very doubtful that she is. We got her about 2 months ago.

have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree?

no, so it WILL come down, eventually.

Yes , but that was YEARS ago and involved various cacti, fungi and licking certain frogs, but we've given all of that up now and don't want to go into that..... :D

Try calling a non-emergency number. Police or fire dept (not 911). If they can't help, they should be able to point you to someone who can.

OK, so she's still kinda "new" to the big world. Menses will make her do strange things, besides squirt out a new generation of kittens, get her spayed. Better for all concerned.
If she's in heat, she'll have company soon enough.

Another thing: She's been very stressed lately because her sister has been dominating over her in our house. Her sister chases her out to show power, eats food first and makes her wait, etc. Maybe she's too afraid to come back home?

Poor puss puss! The blanket idea is a good one. There must be people you can call though. I saw on realtv a cat climbed up a standard high power pole (yeah the long wooden thing!). They tried to get it down and the damn thing at the last second jumped, falling all that distance. It hit the ground and ran off!

That sounds like a reason to go climb a tree and cry to me.....
