I spent upwards of 12K on cancer treatment for my dog that ultimately failed and he died shortly after. No regrets. And no, I didn't really have 12K to spend. It took me a year to dig out of debt. But he was a blessed companion for 12 years of my life and if I had to put a dollar amount on the happiness and joy he brought me it would far exceed 12K.

Good boy, Jester!

I have pet insurance for my cat Scorcho as well, it runs me about 30 bucks a month. It covers routine exams and shots, and 75% of bigger bills. So if my cat somehow swallowed a bunch of cesium pellets or something and needed a new stomach, brain, nervous system, bones, and tail replacement, and it cost 40 grand to do it, I'd only be out 10 grand.

Worth it, in my opinion.

Where did you get cat insurance?

I'd probably spend up to $1,000 on my dog if it meant she could live normally afterwards. Past that I'd have to put her down. Plus, I don't think it's fair to put an animal through all sorts of surgery.

bummer that I didn't see this thread sooner. I've paid for biopsies before for pets; $1000 seems exorbitant. I would have suggested you take the cat to a veterinary teaching college. (Cornell is only an hour from me.)

There are several, but a local vet usually as a brochure or two for different companies.

Spent $2500 to save our cat when he was round 2. If you aren't willing to spend the money, you shouldn't have a living creature under your care.

4000 bucks?

Did you know that humans have a hard time spending 4000 dollars on themselves to fix them up. sad that youd go WASTE this money on a cat.

$4,000?

Total cat replacement is free; just take a trip to the animal shelter.
