My cat caught a rabbit and killed it.

No Lifer
This cat is such a good little huntress. Always bring home presents for us. This is the first rabbit though and by far her largest catch.

The dog had eaten the head off the carcass when I saw her chewing on it and took it away from her...she wasn't happy about that either.

My wife was freaking out.

My mini-doxie killed a rabbit in the yard a couple of years ago. It was hard to tell if it was a rabbit b/c he had pulled the rabbit's inside out. Poking the carcass around, I was able to pull the rabbit's head out of it's body. Gross.

I can't eat rabbit. I just feel sorry for the poor furry little creature every time I take a bite. That, and I don't like the taste. I'd take lamb/beef/chicken over it anyday.

😕 Lambs are much cuter, more friendly than typical meat rabbits.

And, if you think your cat killing a rabbit is bad, imagine coming home to discover that momma cat brought a still live rabbit into the house (via a chimney cleanout to old wood stove pipe to basement to sunroom, and into house) for her 4 little kittens to torture for hours (while we were at work.) Looked like a suicide bomber rabbit detonated itself in the middle of the dining room. Blood & pieces everywhere.

Sounds like if it came down to it your cat is better fit for survival than you.
Yeah, when did that get bred out of us? Well, me anyway. I shouldn't speak for everyone.

Bunnies > Lambs, I agree with. But you don't eat bunnies.

Bunnies > Lambs > mature rabbits

Oh, it's not gone, just sublimated. We all just need the proper stimulation, motivation, and opportunity and we're there. And if you're not, even given all those things, prepare to be deselected.

One less rabbit = 100 less rabbit offspring. Your cat was doing a public service, IMO.

Two of my cats had kittens one time. The third cat felt left out so he went into the woods and brought home (one by one) a bunch of baby bunnies to take care of.

Agreed. Rabbit is pretty tasty and very dietary meat.
