* updated title *
With the Porsche gone I am down to the above cars. I am in the process of buying another long term project but cant seriously decide what I am going to get. I just because of opportunity bought a sr20 engine with forged internals from a friend who parted out his car . I have done an s13 before and cant get myself to commit on another. If I can find a s14 thats unmolested I would go that direction.

The Bmw is a 1998 528i premium. Just did complete cooling system overhaul as well as head gasket and Vanos rebuild. Picked it up cheap and has become my DD.

The Lexus is a 1991 LS400 that I just put some is300 rims on because of Black2na! I got spacers installed in the front and spacers on order in the rear. Had the cluster rebuilt and a used AC/heater control unit installed. Just installed single DIN cd deck with aux in.

Z has SPL Pillow tension rods and Rucas waiting to be installed and full energy hyper flex bushing for everything that moves. Delaying paint to finish suspension. Started to amass parts for the rebuild of my original engine. Sent the heads out to get guides and seals and decking.

You seem to go for the sophisticated sleeper look. How about something a little more flamboyant?

Cool! If I ever do a strictly show car that would be awesome! I would probably black it out and supercharge it!

I am really looking for a drivers car. Would love to do something weird like a n RB26 in a first gen mustang.

Have thought about putting the SR20 in a 80s nissan pickup. Boosted parts truck FTW!

ariel atom?

I have considered something small like that. I would have to sell the G35 which I am close to and consolidate side project and DD.

Things I am considering so far

M5 - Was really close to an E60 a few months ago but cooled for cost reasons
E55AMG Would love to get some Kleeman parts and get near 600 at the wheel. Hell the headers alone open up those things like crazy.
240z - sr20 swap
S14 - SR or RB26 or LS1
E30 - swap. Either larger straight six with low compression to boost or possibly an SR or LS.
Lotus Elise - Get a mid 20s lotus and breathe on the 1.8 a little.
among others so far. Kinda all over the place I know.

MR2 Turbo, 03-04 Cobra, CTS-V, 335i?

The Factory Five 818 is supposed to have a very reasonable total cost- mid engine RWD based on WRX stuff.

What about finding a miata to throw that SR20 into? Or maybe an Opel GT for the sr20 that's a small lightweight car that would turn heads you seem to have a lot of bigger luxo and grand touring cara why not add something super light and nimble though I do like the idea of an early 80's datsun truck with the sr20 be one hell of a parts hauler!

Still really open to a boosted miata.

Man I loved opel GTs back in the day. Wonder how much I would have to throw at the chassis.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATS...1334797?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3f17bf070d like this clean and starts life as a manual already its screaming for an SR20!

SICK! Wouldn't be much different than the 510. Would probably be really easy since we just did one.

try to find a bmw 2002

Would be really cool! I have leaned towards e30s over a 2002 because I have little experience with them.

I grew up with the nickel-and-dimes and would love some more pics!
Brother got the first in early '72, dad was so impressed he got "the orange" a couple of months later. Mom drove it till the early 90's with one re-engine by yours truly. I surprised her while she was out of country 😀

Well you already have something turbo, something modern, something comfortable, and something business. Three are six-cylinders and one is a small-displacement V8 with a forged steel crack, forged rods, and hyper eutectic pistons. You purchased a turbo four and like the build process.

With this in mind, what niche are you looking to fill? High-strung fast? Unusual sleeper? Cruiser/Bruiser? Then you want to figure out how you want your power and then the handling/looks. Let me get a little into where I'm planning with my project.

The Supra was probably one of the stupider purchases I've made, being what it is mechanically (an ironic Toyota product) and the condition it is in. I nevertheless got hooked. It has this feel to it, and a presence that I love. It's heavy and old and worn-out, but has a character to it that is undeniable.

I looked at all the motors you can put in, and the one consistent thing people miss with these cars is torque. They'll talk up the low-spool and high torque once you're in boost, but every time you get them at sub-3000rpm, where the engine actually is at most of the time, they get real quiet.

I also have a thing for the sound of a V8, so I started looking into those options. LS3's can be had new for the low cost of $6-9k without transmission, which itself is another $3k for a beefed up T-56. My goal was to undercut a built 7M ($9k) while still being in the 400whp range. Enter the underdogs.

1UZ's are getting some traction, but they're too small to get a lot of power out of. What about a nice little motor which puts out 300hp in stock form and costs $300 easy? It's a V8 and has been proven over millions of miles in thousands of vehicles and has super-cheap parts and great reliability. The Vortec 5300. Even better? Rumor has it you can bore them out to 5.7L without running the cylinder walls too thin. Performance parts are widely available, and 425hp without boost is not that hard to do. I even found adapter plates for the R-154 to Chevy V8 for a couple hundred. Super!

So, what do you want? I see a distinct lack of something fast in your act.

I keep a running shortlist of cars I'd keep in my dream garage. RX-7? 70's Muscle car?

EDIT: I definitely want to know what's going on with that orange Volvo. I see something Nissan in that engine bay...

My thought as well.

Classic 80s look, and you can do a lot with it, in the performance/drag direction, towards a reasonably handling GT, or a soft cruiser.

Of course, electrics will have to be redone 😀

But hey, it's a Jaaag.

Exactly, you don't buy an XJS to drive, you buy it to fix and maybe in 6 months you can drive it, but god is love a V12 one
