I have some pretty bad carpal tunnel in one hand and in the other I have what is either carpal tunnel or related to a car crash a while ago (can't go to doctor as of now). Well, the carpal tunnel is the lesser of two evils, so I have switched to my other hand for the mouse. On both hands, the mouse aggrivates more than the keyboard. Is that odd?
I feel like it's the way I hold the mouse, but I have tried other ways, and nothing really is comfortable. I have a brace that I found for a wrist that seems to keep my hand in a way that doesn't hurt with the mouse, but it gets uncomfortable (even though I have modified it a bit) and I end up taking it off.
Someone mentioned using a trackball. That way my fingers would be at rest and I would just use my thumb. Does that sound like a good idea? Anyone with experience?
I have found that using a laptop with the little touch pad is great, because I can leave my hands completely relaxed while using it (or at least it seems in a short span of time). Unfortunately, I would need something like this for work and I would be using a desktop. Is there a such thing like the laptop touch pad that could connect to a desktop computer?
Any other suggestions? Any advice for a poor guy with carpal tunnel?
Here's another question... if I have to continue to use my hands in this way all day long, how is it ever supposed to heal? Luckily I am starting a new job and should be training for a few weeks, so that might be some good healing time, but we shall see. I type like the dickens and tend to be long winded (as you probably can see), so I suppose that isn't helping either.
