probably was a pebble... but I have no idea where it could've come from and I didn't see anyone around with a bb gun but they'd probably be hiding. Man, scared the crap out of me.

Down here in LA (about 4 years back) there was a rash of guys using marbles and a slingshot to break car windows while they where driving. The marbles often broke or bounced off (after shattering the window) so it took awhile for people to figure out what was going on. The kids doing it where following close (but no too close) to a car in traffic and shooting the marble off. Noone seemed to be able to catch them for some time (came down to the CHP literally having officers swarmed over the affected areas trying to 'see it' happen)

Any chance thats happening up there now?

More than like a bb gun. How would a pebble kicked up from the road do that kind of damage? The manufactures made those windows so that that kind of thing would not happen.

Coulda also been a stress fracture already there, and perhaps a pebble was all that was needed.

Thanks, but it's a C230k. And maybe it was some kids, but it's a nice neighborhood, lots of nice cars around, don't see why kids living here would be doing that. There was no cracks on the windows that I could see before this.

Try posting pics closer up and around the window frame. Also, did you find any glass in the car? If so, where?

Coulda just been "one of those things."

Like, maybe it wasn't secure from the factory, door slam after door slam made it weak, then you jiggled it the right way on your drive today and crash.

Hope there is a warranty or something :-x

Looks like you had a pair of 15's in the rear and punching about 500 watts to me.

LOL it's a leased car so I have no mods or anything. It's not under warranty because it was "shattered from the middle" which could've only been done by a pebble or other object, which is not at fault of Mercedes :( Oh well. At least i didn't crash or anything. I wish I could say it was because I had 15's in the rear, then I could brag that my system rocks :p

There really is no telling what happened. Could have just been a random thing.

I know that sounds silly, but my back windshield did that once. I got in, closed the door, started up the car, and next thing I know the entire back windshield is in little cubes all over my back seat. Considering where I was, if a kid did that with a slingshot/BB gun, I hope he is a sniper in our armed services now! That would have been one hell of a shot! :p
