My car sounds like a Tank??? What to do...

Hello,

I have been having some car troubles recently. It only starts sometimes. Let's say I drive around for about 30 minutes or so. My car starts driving really rough. I hit the gas and it barely gets going. Sounds like a tank. I park it and let it idle. White puffs of smoke come out of the tail pipe and it sounds like it's putting.

I let it sit and then the next morning it still does it. I gun it and it stops drives fine after that.

What could it be? If there is anything else you guys might need let me know. 🙂

Phil

P.S.: I'll be sure not to make fun of mexicans in this thread. 🙂

Just the completely obvious...like what kind of car, how many miles, etc etc...

Bright white smoke? Or grey-ish smoke? Grey-Blue-ish smoke is probably oil (should smell like oil too). If the smoke is bright white and kind of sweet-smelling, you're probably burning coolant. Check the oil level and the coolant level, if one is significatly low, you may have your culpret there.

Looks like you have a coolant leak there. Could be a headgasket or intake manifold.

Coolant leak would cause noticeable temperature increases. Is the car overheating or at least heating up?
I've never worked on a saturn, so I can't offer too much brand-specific advice.

head gasket .

Well, that is what I would tend towards.. with worst-case being the cylinder head itself or the block. Except it really ought to be overheating with that.

so the best thing to do is take it in and have it checked out? is it even worth fixing ???

If you don't know how to fix it, then yeah, having someone that does look at it would be the way to go

If your engine is overhead valve, it shouldn't be too pricey to have fixed.
