my car got owned by a minicooper S

now i bag on the mini cooper all the time, because for close to $30 grand you'd have to be a moron to drive that thing as your primary car. It seems like it'd be fun to drive, like a really expensive retro looking go cart, but still for $30 grand, i'm buying a real sized car.


but they are damn fast. whats it got 180 hp.

anyways, it accelerates like a mofo.


i was at a stop with a couple of friends and we saw a brand new cooper S type. So i drive an auto 2001 nissan altima. 155 hp inline 4, car weighs like 2900 pounds. I knew i was gonna get owned. So the guy like pulls off to some crazy start, and well i cant even press the gas hard enough to come close to staying with him. we got to around 60mph and i figured screw it i have no chance.


then i just said something about how i couldnt believe that car had 4 seats in it. Its damn fast though, someday i'll buy like an infiniti g35 and i think i still will get owned on the line. I suppose a minicooper would be pretty cool, if you had say an acura mdx as your normal car and this as your i wanna drive around real fast and make sharp turns car.

Mini Cooper starts at around $17,000
Mini Cooper S starts at around $19,500 and you can get it for about $22,800 with GPS, Xenon lights, and full length sunroof

Mini Cooper S has 163 HP, not 180.

0-60 comes up in about 6.9 seconds for the Cooper S 😀 No match for a G35 though.

True, but good luck finding them at those prices anytime soon. All the dealers/individuals selling around here want 20+ for the regular mini and 28-30K for a supercharged one.

They shouldn't be. BMW said that they would do everything in their power to stop dealers from price gouging on Minis and would make them stay at or near sticker price. BMW even went as far as to say that violations to these restrictions would result in dealers not getting their full scheduled alotment of Minis for next year.
 
$30,000?????? Where'd you get that price from???? They're well below $20000. Once the "gotta have one first" crowd dies down, they'll probably be available for $15000-$16000. Not a bad price for what you get.

I don't mind the Mini's, I would like to drive one and see what it's like.........I've seen 2 S's on the road and one normal Cooper thus far. Tiny little suckers. 🙂

Lemme guess...b/c the S is faster, can handle better, stop better, gets better gas mileage, and has tons more luxury, safety, and cool features than your Spec-V? 😀

the spec v is cheaper (by nearly 2k) has waaay more room inside, seats 5, has a normal trunk, doesnt look like a scared turtle, way more reliable (something about a supercharged bmw engine really scares me.. and the repair costs on that thing must be insane.)

the cooper is one of those little cars like the new beetle and the pt cruiser.. either you like it or you hate it. I think the nasty retro styling is gross. Its a gross little trendy car designed for girls and old men.

oh, and as for being faster-- i'll believe it when i see one pull up next to me.


in the end.. the nissan is just a better overall car. therefor, minicooper is suck. IMO

See how stupid that sounds? 😀

Anyway, dynamically, you can't fault the Mini Cooper S. It's not for everyone, but for those that choose to pony up for one, you won't be dissappointed. I personally find the Spec-V to be rather truckish looking up front with that massive bumper, and plain looking from the rear end with that sloping deck. The interior also is styled funky to me and what's with the red seats?

And I think that's it's fair to say that fit and finish would be better on the Mini.


 
that's a stupid comparison.. a mini and a sentra.. someone shopping for a mini would never consider a sentra no matter how much hp or room it has inside.. and vice versa... a sentra spec-v is nothing more than a glorified econobox.. and a cooper will probably be a classic car that caters to a niche crowd.. damn nissan idiots.. they're getting worse than the honda boys...
