Was driving down the highway at 50 and there was a muffled bang and the car shook like I ran over something. Then she lost power but the engine was still running pulled into the center turn lane and it quit. Tried to get it started but it would only run with the assistance of the starter and that sounded like only one or two cylinders at best.

Now it won't start at all. The timing belt is new and no signs of oil or water mixing so must of blown a head gasked or cylinder wall.

Now to put the new engine that is in my closet into it :D

them Toyotas last forever don't they? My friend has a 80s model Corolla with 216k miles on it that's still going, albeit without rear seatbelts, a passenger door handle, working locks and a front bumper.

May your car rest in peace. She will always live on in your heart.

Our '87 Camry has 185k miles on it. We're the 2nd owner; oil has been changed every 3500 miles like clockwork.

The goal is 400k.

Holy cow that's quite impressive. The trannys in those older Tauruses were definetely the weakest link and would die around 75K-125K miles.'

If you're a big Taurus fanboy like I am, you should check out the taurus club

If you want bad, go back 6 years to my 90. She's on transmission #2, and only at 178,000. With that era, you also get the flaky clear coat. Engine's fine though.

You have an engine in your closet for an '86 Corolla? :Q

What type of engine Carrot39?

An engine from a 88 Chevy Nova. Rebuilt and it only had 90 thousand miles on it. Really nice car too but the timing belt broke and the owners just let it sit for years so I pulled the engine out and rebuilt it.

That is some awesome mileage. Cars that last that long are definately treasures, if only for the memories they hold. I desperately wanna push my Volvo over 200k but the odometer died :(

I heard of one person on the radion(car talk) had her Camry for around 500k miles and was wondering if it was worth replacing the front bumber or fender cause she got hit. now if only my VW had lasted that long:p

I have a 93 Camry LE, it's still running strong and smooth after 115,000 miles :), hopefully it will be many years before I have to buy another car.
