Well it was working great until yesterday morning. Honda 99' C-RV started shaking every 8th of a mile. I opened the hood, and a gremlin popped out and ran away. Now it turns out the transmission is bad.

Wife and I are going to look for another Honda, we have about $20k limit, and I trust the experts here at ATOT for advice! I don't have a big family and am just lookin for a two door vehicle with good MPG rating.

Any recommendations, fellas?

Civic Coupe?

The CR-V has utility, replacing it with a sedan or coupe will not be close.

Do you need the utility? If yes, fix it. It'll be your cheapest bet

If you don't need the utility, you're going to take a hit to sell it with a bad tranny. If you fix it, you won't recoup your repair cost in the sale. You'll still be in a hole. So consider fixing it.

If you are tired of a utility vehicle, then take the loss and get something different, but you have to decide what are your priorities. 2 door couple, 4 door sedan, 3/5-door hatchback, wagon? Manual / auto? How powerful need it be? How fuel efficient does it have to be?

strangely the honda insight fits the bill perfectly... lol

i'd just get a civic. considering the fit is only about $1-2k cheaper than a civic with a slightly better MPG, i'd just get the new, good-looking civic

or grab one of those 2007 accords when the 2008 comes out.

Thanks!

Anyone have any experience/thoughts on the 2007 Fit?

Good little car. Excellent interior room + mpg goodness.

It also comes ugly at no extra cost.

I'm sure the OP want Ferrari styling for $20k car.

You can get a nice looking car for $20K. But the Fit is ugly ugly ugly.

I do. You really think you're going to keep your Honda for 20 years?
With the number of choices nowadays and reliability of cars getting better, its no brainer to get a car that is durable and looks good. Especially if you're spending 20k.
Maybe thats chump change to you.
