Sorry, but once you get into headphones you might never end up with a permanent pair. Or you may end up with several, and still be interested in more!

I have recently been through several including AKG 701, Sennheiser HD485, HD515, HD555, Equation Audio RP15 and RP21, Goldring DR150, JVC HA-RX700, Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 4, Soundmagic PL30 and PL12, Audio Technica ATH EC7, and a few more. Also went through several different headphone amps. It is a lot of fun trying new stuff, and it is kind of shocking when you discover that the most expensive or highly regarded gear is not your favorite. For my particular taste (and big head) I liked the JVC, Senn HD485, Equation RP21, and Soundmagic PL30 the best out of all of those.... and they are mostly cheaper models.

Don't be afraid to buy used, and definately be prepared to resell whatever you try if it doesn't fit your needs.
