I have a creative 4x-2x-24x, when I burn a cd, I am told that the burn was successful, but when I try to view it, nothing is there. if I look at the cdr in the light, I can see were it is burned. I have tried copying from the hard drive and cd to cd copying, at all speeds, and no luck. this just started happening recently, the cdr still reads regular cd's fine. If you have any suggestions let me know.. thanks!:)

Are you using CDRwin with an *ahem* illegally obtained code? This is what happens if you do. If not, no offense.

it was a new one, I dont beleive nero lets you have open sessions like cd-creator does..... but it was a new disk. I have made about 10 coasters so far, trying to copy various things at various speeds

first try simple solutions such as defragmenting your hd. and before you burn, ctrl-alt-delete and close every program except exlorer and systray. then open up nero and burn. if it still doesn't work correctly, it might be a hardware problem. the laser of the drive eventually gets weaker and weaker or there's too much dirt on the laser head (use compressed air...but don't stick the whole nozzle in the drive or you might misalign the laser head). and if it does turn out to be a hardware problem, the next cd-rw you should buy is a plextor - top of the line.

Make sure the DMA is not check in "My Computer" properties for the CDRW drive. Have you move the drive to a different position? Or has it been the same over the year?

Burners literally burn up to 720-1000 degrees farenheit, the metal surrounding the laser inside your burner is subjugated to this massive heat. The reason being for the massive heat is to "burn" the tiny gold layers on the bottom side of your cd media, however metal has a lower melting point then gold (just take a quick peak at your periodic table guys) the estimated lifespan of any cd burner is usually 1.5 - 2 years, however this depends on the amount of usage of your burner, looks like it could just be that metal burned off your laser, or dirt built up inside that laser creating inaccurate burns.

Well, I had the same EXACT problem with the same EXACT drive. I fixed it by taking the drive apart and using a Q-tip to clean the lense. After that it worked fine. It took me 2 trys to get it working properly. I bet that would work for you. BTW, I tried a cleaning disc and it did nothing.
