Are you asking for build critique or just announcing the world you're getting a new PC? 😛

Just sharing 🙂 Already ordered. It is like my old one but slightly upgraded so I am sure it will be excellent.

I am pretty sure I got my old one sold already!

Precisely. I have a very similar computer and it is SILENT. And I was the original "My computer is too loud" guy.

I looked at the K chip, but really I do not OC. And if I did, there is probably just enough "wiggle room" in this chip to make me happy.

It is the SATA 3 for my SSD and USB 3.0 on the FRONT that are getting me happy 🙂

Awesome. I'm thinking of improving my build's silence next year. This is what I have in mind for 2012 August/September:

Ivy Bridge CPU cooled passively by Thermalright HR-02. NVidia 600 series GPU, probably an MSI Twin Frozr III set to low-RPM at idle. If it's too loud then I might even consider watercooling. My current Fractal design R3 with one or two 120mm front fans, two 140mm top fans, and my current Seasonic X-650.

Yes, I have the current SOLO and find it to be VERY silent. The Noctua fans I use are truly amazing. Best $$$ I ever spent. I replaced the stock case fan with a 120mm Noctua. May not have to do that as the SOLO 2 comes with a much better case fan, I think.

I currently have a Nexus PSU and that sucker is totally silent. Not sure if the fan ever came on 🙂

Good question. I have the 92mm now and I only need one of the included 2 fans and they are SUPER quiet. I guess maybe I was not sure the 120mm would fit and did not think they could be any quieter.

Still, that may be the one weak spot and is easily fixed if I decide for some reason the 92mm is not enough. Because I have extremely light video needs, I use the built in video by Intel.

So, better airflow and less cooling/sound needed.

The 120mm will always give you either less noise at a given CFM or more CFM at a given noise level. With the price so close, I see no reason not to go for the 120mm version unless you know for a fact that it won't fit.

Thanks for the tip. I may swap it out if I can hear the 92 at all. My current computer is so quiet that I felt I had achieved my lifelong goal of a silent computer. However, I will agree that 120 is slower, therefore quieter, and bigger so it moves more air for a given RPM.

I expect to have the build rocking by Saturday, I will let you know.

I have all parts now except the case, which I hope arrives tomorrow.

It is built! A few photos here: http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/35952502/1/Cat%20Warmer?h=618f6c

Am going to get my current SSD in in over the weekend one way or another. I am betting the hardware is close enough that it will discover what in needs to boot and then I can take it from there.

But with SSD's especially, one never knows.

I have Acronis 2012 with the PLUS pack so supposedly it can restore to dissamiliar hardware. But all this stuff takes time.

It is silent. Really silent. I mounted the PSU upside down just to try that nice new vent on top. I am SURE my cat will love that spot!

I have not had it on long enough for the PSU fan to come on yet 🙂 And the case fan see,ms to be perfect, so I will not need to replace it with a Noctua 120mm. At least not yet 🙂

BTW, this case is the bomb! Easily worth a few extra $$$. GET THIS CASE is you like silent computing.

Not that it's bad per se. The PSU can help ventilate the PC that way, and being a Seasonic it won't mind one bit. It just looks "old".
