My Build, Need some more insight on it, please

Budget Range: well, not really set, since prices here is a bit higher than internet prices... I need a good build to hunt prices here and see.


System Usage from Most to Least Important: Mostly, Gaming...and photoshop.

Parts from my old system: well my DVD drive IDE, and HD sata ( Don't need a new HD ATM )

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

only need a case build..


Preferred Website(s) for Parts: none...I just need part names


Country of Origin: Jordan


Parts Preferences: for CPU Intel, GFX card Nvidia, rest... doesn't matter.

What I have so far is this:


1. CPU

8GB DDR3 1600mhz ( not sure corsair, G skill ,or kingstone? )

3. Gfx Card
nVidia GTX 480, or 460


need a good motherboard suggested...and PSU.

i5 2400
z68 mb [ or H61 or H67 ] depending on budget
1600 MHz RAM that runs at 1.5 or less
GTX 560 [ not the ti version ] or Radeon 6870

if getting nvidia 480, 600-750w
if getting nvidia 460 or 560, 400-500w
corsair and seasonic are the top
xfx, antec are ok

mobo doesn't matter too much unless you're overclocking
just get whatever works with the rest of your system

case: probably anything that has what you want and supports 2 or more 120mm or greater fans
you might want to add a side fan if getting the 480, that thing runs hot

well, i7 I don't think will matter much on gaming.. prolly on rendering on a 3d prog. which I'm not doing...

480 ~= 570, but the 480 will run hotter and maybe a bit slower. But you don't have to take my word for it.

Get the 2500k if you're overclocking; get the 2400 if you're not.

been told to check AMD CPUs, if I want to use the i5 2400, my friend told me to go for the :
phenom II x6 1100t
or
Bulldozer FX 8150
that is If I'm getting the 2400, but If I'm getting 2500k, then stick to intel.

any ideas?
and If I swaped to AMD, will that clash with nVidia?
heard that AMD and ATI compatability is better, so will it affect me?

bulldozer just isn't very good for desktop usage, i can't recommend it over an 1100t or a 2400.

with that monitor resolution you're going to be flying using a 460.

i'm not sure there are any modern motherboards that still have regular IDE ribbon ports. you'll probably need a new dvd drive.

GTX 460 is easily enough for your res. It might be worth it though to cut down a bit on the PC budget and buy a new 1080p monitor; GTX 460 will handle any game alright on 1080p with lowered settings and it'll look a lot better than 1280x1024 with high settings. Also increases monitor area for photoshopping.

i5-2400 is much better than FX-8150 and 1100T in games:

In the one photoshop test the i5 and 8150 are about equals, and compared to 1100T the i5 is a lot faster. And remember, the i5 consumes a lot less power. I can't recommend an AMD CPU at this point, Sandy Bridge CPUs are just better deals overall from low end to high end.

+1 on Antec PSUs. An Antec Neo Eco 520C, EA-500D or HCG-520 would suit your system perfectly. Other options: Corsair CX500 V2, XFX Core Pro 550W, Seasonic S12II 520W

Whether to go with H61, H67 or Z68 really depends on what you need from a motherboard. If you go Z68, Asrock Z68 Pro3 is a good affordable option.

well, seems like I'll be asking about the prices of these parts...

CPU:
1. i5 2500k
2. i5 2400

GFX:
1. 570
2. 480
3. 460

Rams:

8GB 1600mhz

Mobo:
H61, H67 or Z68 ..going to looks further into these, I heard H65 got sata probs... I'll check the prices of Asrock Z68 Pro3 here.. as I see, it has all the things I could use..but can't see the IDEfor DVD, might have to get a new one if I get this.

PSU:
will try to search for these
Antec Neo Eco 520C, EA-500D or HCG-520
if I couldn't find, I guess i'll get a 600~700w one

HD1:
well, lol....I might get a 1tera later, but going to stick with mine I think, I don't really use that much space on the PC...
so If mine works, I think i'll keep it...
it is a seagate barracuda 7200.9 80GB - I mainly store the stuff on the laptop...and keep desktop clean...

and, on the monitor thing, Nah.. not going to upgrade it, mine is doing the job maybe in the future.. lol

I think this can do the job...as a PC...right?

For your resolution you shouldn't even consider anything more than a GTX 460 (or HD6850), as has been mentioned it's really fast at that res. GTX 570 would be a waste of money.

If you can't find a 500W antec or any of the others mentioned, try 500W from a different brand but be sure to check here first to confirm if it can relied on. If that doesn't work, only then consider a bigger PSU because frankly you'll never need use more than half the power of a 600W unit.

Agree with lehtv about the GPU and the monitor. Also, an 80GB HDD is not just small, it is slow compared to newer drives. You'll be building this fast new rig and putting blocks on the wheels.
