theres my wishlist...

i might be getting either the 30" dell monitor
or the 24" monitor

i still need:
video card
RAM

will a 7600gt even play bf2142 on my monitor for the time being? cuz i might get dx10 later...

and i also need RAM that is as cheap as i can get it...
is like $300 corsair xms2 or w.e. ram actually better then cheapo $200 RAM if i dont OC

im still not sure if im gonna get dx10 or not, but can someone tell me a card that will be able to play bf2142 on that high of a resolution.
also, if i dont use the highest res., will it look all messed up?

thanks for your help..

How do you intend to use the monitor? Are you going to sit back a ways or have it close like a regular monitor. I just got the 24inch acer and it's absolutely HUGE in front of me on the desktop. I can really say at this distance, a 30inch would be too big. I could see using a 26inch however.

ok well i think i might get the 24"
how much is the acer? and i always want the best...i guess its just the way i am lol..but whenever i see something better i raise my expectations...so will the 30" really be big for gaming? will i be fine with the 24?

Good luck running BF2142 at 2500x1600 with that 7600, or any card for that matter. Stick with the 24" unless you plan to go 8800 SLI or something in the very near future.

Oh and do a search in GH for Antec PSUs before you jump on that one, it may change your mind 😉

k well wat psu do u suggest? i think im gonna get a 7900gto and 24"...cuz i dont want to have to vista with a dx10...

Go here: Linkage and do some reading. That man knows his PSUs.

Just FYI I have the 2407 and I had a tough time running BF2142 at native with my 1900XT.

For a PSU, those CWT Antecs arn't much good, especially considering the caps. I recommend a Corsair HX520W or Silverstone Element 500W, it will be able to support single card DX10 also.

awh crap really? does that mean a portion will be cut off? or wat happens to the screen?

wat memory should i get? i want like under 250 USD...does memory even matter if i dont OC? cuz im not gonna OC probably at all so wat memory should i get?

you can have it stretch a lower resolution it just wont look as good (I have the 2405 and before that I had an sgi 1600sw, 17inch 1600x1024), generally multiples of your resolution look best but a good high resolution display can handle interpolation better then lower resolution ones.

Yeah, just make sure you keep the aspect ratio the same and everything should still look ok, just not as great as it would at native. It depends on the game and monitor as well, some scale better than others, or at least this has been my experience.

mhmm..well wat video card should i get with the 24" monitor? i was thinking nvidia but it seems ati is pretty good in my budget as well... im torn between eVgas 7950gt, 7900gto (outta stock) or x1900xt 256
