My buddy just got ripped off!

Dell from Qvc is what he bought.. he got complety ripped off!

i built my grandmother a computer with better specs for under $300 (without the monitor)

he wont listen to me because his mom got it and its "lightening fast!"

oh boy.

I avoid building computers for people because then its all on you if it breaks down. People who usually end up choosing a dell can use the extra security they gain from having a multi-million dollar corporation backing the computer rather than a 16 year old "friend".

yeah...that's why I don't build computers for people because I built a computer for some guy three years ago and he still calls me whenever there is a problem.

i don't see a problem, he has Vista

Windows Vista is designed to improve your overall computing experience, allowing you to monitor your family's use of the Internet; quickly find files or programs; and complete everyday tasks with greater ease and reliability.

There is no way you can build such a system for under $300, or are you talking used parts? The operating system alone is going to cost almost athird of that figure. A couple hudred more, yeah, but that's just for the hardware. Throw in labor and a warranty, and support, and the cost goes up fast. And no monitor? your not actually saving them much without that are you?

Here's the specs for the system linked:

20" diagonal widescreen LCD monitor
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor
1GB RAM
250GB hard drive
DVD+/-RW CD/DVD burner
13-in-1 memory card reader
128MB ATI Radeon X1300 graphics
integrated 7.1 channel audio
Dell USB QuietKey keyboard
Dell optical scroll mouse
56K modem
10/100 ethernet
AS501 flat-panel speakers
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
Microsoft Works Suite with Microsoft Word

Thats a very fair price for this system. Let's not forget, it comes with Dell product Support.

Retail Value: $1844.00

Where do they even get that amount from? Your friend should file a false advertising suit.

There is absolutely no way you built a computer with better specs for under $300, even without the monitor. Unless you bought used parts and/or pirated your copy of Windows.

First of all it isn't cheaper ot buy it on dell site. The exact same system at dell cost 1365, and this is before tax.
