People will always have better stuff than you, no matter how rich you are.

That's about about all there is, be happy with what you have or do something about it.

That is probably one of your best posts ever!!
he just doesn't practice what he preaches . . .

hypocricy at it "best" 😛

anyway, i don't get the original poster's comment:

well.. the thing is. he works for some big company.. so he orders dell computers. the only thing he bought, were like some cheap-o pci-e cards to replace them. think he spend $100 total out of his pocket for 2 x800 XT's.
huh?
Don't you think this personal jab is a bit unnecessary?

The OP's comment refers to a buddy of his swapping out superior hardware for cheap hardware at his business and taking the good stuff home with him. I hope that his buddy realizes that Dell tracks hardware profiles for corporate customers for RMA/support reasons. My company is a Dell corp client and our LAN techs can simply type in a system's service tag number at Dell's corp site to get the system specs. The Dell website will ist all the parts that a system came with. It makes it easy for companies to upgrade their systems, and it also lets them know what parts are supposed to be in a system.
the personal jab . . . no it was necessary . . . have you been following the OTHER thread where he insults me at ever instance, puts words in my mouth and calls my posts clueless . . . no, it was well-called for . . . and now that i lost what little respect i had left for him, i will not mention him again nor ever reply to his posts . . . that way the irritation i felt is gone and forum DISharmony from personal friction eliminated . . . . so i feel better now.

😉

i wasn't sure . . . i thought it might be fraud . . . that sucks . . . truly 🙁

I make enough to buy one myself, I'm not jealous. He's just a bastard because he paid *maybe* $100 out of pocket for the replacement cards he used to swap them out. So that's $50 for a $500 video card. I could afford one no problem. I just can't justify spending that much on a new card anymore. My last 3 cards were bought full retail when they first came out. 9700pro, ti4600, ti500. It's not worth buying something right away.

Absolutely right, but I suspect that his buddy will be long gone from the gig before they renew those boxes, if they even look inside them.

Kinda sad that he's jealous of fraud, but I guess ethics are pretty much out of style these days.:disgust:

My buddy is the one that 'renews' them. They donate old hardware and buy new stuff all the time. He was selling 9800XT's when they came out for $250 + an old gf2 card. Too bad he can't do it with the x800s though. They only come in the XPS now. They had them in dimensions for a bit, now they only have dimensions with a 9800pro. BASTARDS!!!

EDIT: my bad, they have dimensions with x800 SE cards, not 9800pro.

LOL, so says Dr. Phil.

Apoppin's web site

"When Rollo called me on disbursing misinformation to a father looking for sound advice in another thread, and I couldn't back up my arguments with any other supporting opinions from review sites, my inner child became petulant and posted rambling, nonsensical attacks at Rollo. (the source of the cognitive dissonance) In an egalitarian, harmonious world where the Goddess's gifts to mankind are enjoyed by all free spirits, people would be allowed to screw other people up as they saw fit, secure in the knowledge that kharma would restore harmony to the cosmic balance based on their intentions. Rollo has wounded my inner child, so I'm taking my toys and going home"

LOL!

BTW- the other thread wherein Apoppin' tries to convince a father buying his son a birthday gift to help him play Doom3 that 512RAM would be a significant upgrade, without any supporting benchmarks of course.

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=31&threadid=1377266&enterthread=y

So Apoppin' would have had him buy 512MB/9800Pro to play Doom3 instead of a 6800NU for the same cost. Happy Birthday from Apoppin'. You could have been playing Doom3 better than 95% of the people on the planet, but at least it loads faster now!

I think you guys are taking this thread too seriously. Haven't you ever had a buddy get something sweet, from a girl to a graphics card, that causes you to say, " Damn dude, you are one lucky bastard!" I don't think nanaki333 is jealous, I think he is envious as I would be and have been. I know that in such cases, I am generally happy for my friend's fortune.
As far as swapping cards out, it is risky business, but so long as he's in charge of the orders, and noone knows computers, he's probably pretty safe. He can always put them back if something comes up.
