My Buddies PC Ipod died need help!

OK hes got a PC Ipod and it just stopped workin on him today. when you reset it it just shows teh apple then it goes to a imiage of a folder with at ! on it and then turn off.
we both have no idea what happened to it. it was workin fine then just died. anyone know how to fix this? other then sending it back and getting a new one?

Go into Ephpod and wipe it.

ok i went to teh apple site and DLed teh Ipod updater. now i get a pic of teh Ipod w/ an (!) oin it and its frowning. and teh updater says its not connected when it is.

Hm... did it get dropped hard or did something happen when he tried to update the firmware?

nohe was just listning to it and it forze and wont work anymore. in teh book that cam wit it it suggests updateing teh softeare for it. i tried that but it says its not connected.

its only liek 2 weeks old and we only actually got songs on it 3 days ago.

Return it! May be a defective unit. Those are the breaks.
