Obviously you have no idea what goes into food processing. People have died from similar issues. Furthermore, most dog food is processed using scraps from food manufacturers.

You can sue for Punative damages instead of pain and suffering. Courts are allowed to reward that if negligence is proven.

Poisoned food list: LINK

The list is very long now on the number of foods possibly poisoned and they estimate that likely hundreds of pets will die.

They have announced that rat poison in the food is the culprit.

Might be sabotage

I have no doubt that in the next decade or so pets will be differentiate from personal property someplace between human and above property. Pet food lobyist and the like have prevented it for decades...

P.S. I feel so sorry for those this affected. Sorry for your loss. Now that the list has increased to something like 90 different brands my sisters pet food she thought was safe is now not safe but I don't believe she fed her two dogs any of it. I hope not and if she did I hope her batch isnt tainted. So, some people that thought they were safe with the initial lists are now in danger of poisoning there pet/s.
Rat poison, yep. 🙁

Rat poison found in tainted pet food. Looks like a terrorist-type attack on our pets.

Rodent poison has been found in pet food blamed for the deaths of at least 16 cats and dogs, a spokeswoman for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets said today. The deaths led to a recall of 60 million cans and pouches of pet food produced by Menu Foods and sold throughout North America under 95 brand names.

Again, here is the link of affected pet foods right from the Menu Foods site in case anyone has missed it.

I heard about this from my friend, because he wanted to make sure I wasn't feeding it to my dog. Purina doesn't have the issue from what I gathered.

However, the brands that did have the recall had this issue from when they changed suppliers. At least from what my friend told me.

Is there anyway to make your own dog food at home instead of ever buying it?

No it is impossible to make anything at home that your dog or cat would remotely eat 😉.

Originally you had to cook/prepare meals for your animals. Then companies like Purina, Ralston, etc got into the business of making pre-prepared foods.

The best food you can serve your animals would be one prepared fresh and with the right ingredients. However; most don't have the time nor the knowledge to do this. I wouldn't myself and I was a Zoology / Biology major.

My friend's dog had some of this food. The dog wasn't doing very well one night, but made it through seemingly unharmed.

So to update, after having veterinarian results returned to us and what not...

2 of our 3 dogs have kidney failure after having perfect lab checkup just past summer, the vet suspects the dry Nutro food, and we are now in the process of calling the FDA, and food manufacturers.

The one dog who didn't get sick coincidentally has only a few teeth and can't eat the dry food. So I would caution people to be careful.
