My broadband connection is %$#@!!!!

My Comcast Broadband connection keeps dropping out. Tech support doesn't seem to have any answers other than sending someone out in a few days, which doesn't do anything for me now. I can only stay connected for seconds then it drops out. Doing anything on the net takes forever or doesn't work at all. Repairing connection and resetting modem doesn't help. This happened to me a few months before, lasted one day and then connection worked fine until two days ago. Running XP and a have 3com sharkfin modem. Any suggestions?
 
Had that same problem here awhile back, it just kept getting worse until finally it dropped out altogether. It turned out to be a bad connection at the street. In addition to ending the drops, the connection is noticably faster than it was before.
