Got the windows on my Sonata tinted last Monday... they didn't do a very good job and after posting a video on tintdude to find out if I was being too picky,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NL2K9ei8xHc

my suspicions were confirmed and I brought it back to have it fixed. They ended up replacing the film on all of the windows but left out the crappy looking cutout on the back window. I was pretty pleased with the re-do, but tonight as I was inspecting it, I noticed that I've got contamination bubbles even WORSE on the side windows and although the back window was done much better than before, they cut off a portion of my defog line!!! Not only that, but they left two razor blades in my backseat, a filthy, wet scouring pad and a mess on the rear deck.

Here are some pictures of the contamination and back window:

Some of the guys at tintdude say I should get my money back and have them pay to fix the back window, but I won't have time to get in till Monday, so yeah... comments are welcome. I'm just pissed.

Oh, and I almost forgot, you'll see in the video that they damaged the rear corner panel by the right rear window. UGH!!!

Also how much did you pay these people lol. What a crappy job if they did damage stuff.

Also IMO tell them not to cut for the brake light on the rear glass, people can still see it and it will look alot better, and you won have issues with aligning it up or anything.

What film did they use? Many times the film company will let you go to another shop that uses the same film.

I paid $220 including tax... they were on the upper end of price in my area and I didn't want to get a cheap, crappy job... shows what I know... and they didn't put the cutout in per my request on the re-do. They used Llumar ATC.

Err don't the bubbles go away after couple of days?

Yes, they do, but these aren't normal bubbles. These are spots where dust got in between the window and film and left small contamination bubbles. A GOOD tint job should minimize these greatly, but to come out WORSE the second time??? That's just a joke.

Yeah thats a shit job, go back and raise hell over that. Where did you find the shop you went to?

I'm GOING to raise hell, especially since they left a razor blade ON MY BACK SEAT where my kids sit. These guys are supposedly very reputable, and they've treated me well and responsed quickly to my issues with the tint so far... but I think two tries and you're out on this one.

Your car looks so much nicer with the tints.
I'd have gone apeshit over the scuff mark on the rear window more than the tint though. (And that broken defogger line.) 🙂

If I did that myself I'd be totally pleased. If I paid good money to professionals I'd probably be pissed.

UGGGGHHH!! When my wife came home she told me that my son cut himself on a razor blade the fuckers left in the backseat of our car!!! Apparently it was stuck in the crease between the back and seat of the back seat and when he crawled up into the back seat his elbow nicked it. These guys are getting a whole new a**hole torn into them.

That does look like crap. I have my cars tinted everytime I get them, typically costs $125 from a local guy I know from midwest motorwerks. He does it on the side, and midwest warranties it for life (from bubbling, peeling, fading, etc).

I've never, ever had bubbles after he was done, either. I usually stay far away from the chain tint shops, i've heard bad things about them.

Tint should be required by the government on Prii. Cooler car = less A/C = more MPG. 😉

One of my coworkers has a Prius and had an issue with the relatively weak AC. It just couldn't keep up with the heat here in Arizona during the summer. He did some research on what film blocked the most heat and got that one. It made a HUGE difference. His car can easily keep cool now, he's quite pleased.

Glad it wasn't any worse than that. You're also lucky the seats weren't torn up.

If your son got cut by a dirty razor blade, you may have bigger problems than a bad tint job. Take your son to the doctor and see what they suggest you do about that. Then go rip these guys a new ahole.

Hey, if you happen to know what he used, could you let me know? Thanks.

Doctor? Check
Ripping new ahole? Coming

Why didn't you just remove the razor blade after you realized it was in the back seat? That would have kept your son from getting cut.

Because he said: "Apparently it was stuck in the crease between the back and seat of the back seat". That leads me to believe he did not see it.

OP...after looking at your pictures I can feel your pain but on the bright side you have one hell of a cute kid!

This is why I always get recommendations on places before I do business there. I got a recommendation for the tint place on my GTO and it turned out great.

The point was that I didn't know it was there until my son stuck his elbow in that spot... I couldn't have known.

Unfortunately I did get a recommendation for this place, from several people... but I guess they got a new tinter or something, because I'll never recommend this place to ANYONE.
