My Brand new '06 Subie Impreza Wagon came!

My 06' Impreza finally arrived. I think I'll have to replace the carpted mats to start. Does anyone know where I can buy some aftermarket ones? I don't want to pay $100 to Subaru for them.

Does Costco carry that sort of stuff?

Sweetness! /congrats. Enjoy, man. 😎

Pics?

I'd just pony up and get the subbie ones. Can't believe you didn't ask them to throw in a set of mats. Usually all you have to do is ask.

My dealer wasn't giving anything away, that's for sure. It came with carpeted mats which won't last long in this kind of weather. In New England the Subie dealers even tack on extra charges.

I'll take some pics once it's nice out. It's been overcast/rainy for almost a week now.

Very nice. Congrats on the purchase. Welcome to the Subie club! 🙂

Buy your all-weather floor mats for only $38.96 (plus shipping) at SubaruGenuineParts.com

Subie Gal at Nasioc.com runs it and her prices and customer service are top notch.

edit: Oops, fixed link.

Thanks for that link Vic! I might find it cheaper at Costco tho. I'll see tommorow.

I got a Impreza 2.5i Sport Wagon in Steel Gray Metalic. Love that color. Very hard to find. They had to drive it down for me from a dealer 30miles away.

One thing I did notice is that there's no bump protection/strip on the side of the car, just an indent where the strip should be. My door is going to get dinged up pretty fast.🙁

Have the dealer install one Wag 🙂

They charge a fortune for labor. Bastards. They even wanted to charge me to install the factory options. This is not a factory option either, so I guess Subaru intended for there to be no bump-strip for this model.

don't get the all-weather mats... they suck cuz they don't have the hole for the anchor to keep them in place. So they essentially ride up to the pedals and can potentially screw up your clutch, if you have a manual.

As for the labor on the factory items... ya they have to charge that... you don't have to pay the labor if they find the car you want with all the options from the factory tho.

So are you saying stay with the carpeted mats? What about wheel locks? Someone said they aren't worth the $25 because all Subies have alloy wheels as standard.

Odd that the standard Impreza 2.5i Sedan/Wagon doesn't come with door bump guard at all. The only thing the wagon has is the lip at the bottom of the door. I suppose this is to give it a more sporty/sleeker look. I guess this is something I'll just have to live without.

The Impreza Outback Sport has it, although from what I've read even though it costs more it doesn't handle as well as the normal Impreza. That's why I went with the normal one.

Congrats on the new subie. I still say GC8's are the best subies ever but the 06s are cool too. Post some pics 🙂 FYI subaruparts.com for cheaper subaru parts. Also check out NASIOC.com (Subie board), and to a lesser extent 25RS.com (mostly for older GC6/8 guys like me).

If you don't baby that car for the first 1,000 miles I'm going to find where you live and beat you with a bent connecting rod.

how do you definfe all weather mats?

I got the plastic ones from targets. they are so much better than fabric, last longer and damn easy to clean.

Ya, stick with the carpeted mats. Probably just cheaper to get new carpeted mats when u need em, lol.

The all weather mats from subaru are thick plastic mats with deep grooves to keep i guess dirt and water on them. Not much i can say about em.

No idea on the wheel locks... I never bought em.

I had a '02 impreza 2.5RS.. or 2.5i
now I have a '05 legacy GT
I've driven the '03 impreza WRX, and the '05 impreza WRX STi.

I also modded my 2.5RS with header back, so it was a lot of fun to drive, and I've driven a decently modded '03 WRX too, and that was fun.

This year's model has an active restraint system (including header back) up the wazoo. More airbags than you can shake a stick at.

I am very tall and this car is the first one that has a head-back that actually reaches my head. From what I make of it, it will fold in forward during an impact so you don't get whiplash (or break your neck).

Oh yeah, also, how far do I have to turn the steering wheel to get it to lock when I'm parked? I couldn't find it so I just gave up.

Um, I think he's talking about an exhaust header.

Yeah, another scoobie driver. I have a silver 05 legacyGT. I still have the stock tires, they suck, but I haven't bothered changing them. Now every time there is a YACT you can help me convince everyone to buy a subaru.

Oh, and I'm shocked I have the same car as VIC.

Not quite the same. I have 2 Imprezas. An 01 RS coupe and an 03 WRX sedan. Both modded. My Subie stable.

The new LGT is pimp though. I drove one a few weeks ago and was very impressed. It was pushing 350 bhp with just up/down pipes and a reflash, and still quiet with the stock mufflers. I'm strongly considering getting one next year.

And while I like the stock LGT wheels, please ditch the RE92's. Those things are terrible.
