I imagine you are only saying that because you feel your job is at risk.

Also, I don't think you'll be laid off.

I keep thinking it's about being laid off because:
-business is slow and they are trying to save money anyway
-even though I got extra responsibilities, 1 person can still take care of my department now because workload is not much
-my co-worker in my department has more experience than me
-boss has been acting weird and checking up on me lately
-tomorrow is Friday

Wow, what a jerk. That's a really, really shitty thing for him to have done to you.

I would be looking for a new job even if he didn't fire me based on what you've said in this thread.

I'm kinda sorta in a similar boat atm, but it's a weird situation.

I think the company might be a bit worried about what I'm going to do to be honest some of the things they are doing atm and recent events.

It's date night bro. You have been giving off the wrong signs or maybe in your case the right one's [for you].

If he calls you back on Saturday, you are good for Monday.

I'd have been looking for a new job a long time ago based on the state of the business...

Personally, I've never seen anyone do that the day prior to laying off (or firing) someone. If you're going to march someone out of the building at 9AM, you ask to speak to them at 8:30AM.

Morning is just a few hours away.

A few hours minus 4 more seconds. But who's counting?

Happened to my neighbor 6 months ago. Dude has two kids and one is a few years from college.

On a Friday he was invited to a meeting and when he stepped in he saw two of the top two people at the company and I think 2 lawyers. He knew what was up. Actyually he saw it coming for about 6 months. Didn't leave earlier because he knew a severence package was part of him getting getting the boot.

Unemployed for 4 months maybe now has a cushy job (with pretty damned good raise of something like 30%) with Yale and his kids can go to Yale for free if they get accepted.

If he makes more money than you, it may be him they're letting go.

Hang in there. It's hard, but try to remember fretting over something isn't going to change it.

Publicly held company? Don't they usually lay people off just before the end of a quarter?

He's gay for you.

Do you have a rock hard butt or abs?

Maybe you're giving him the raise?

I'm pretty sure you're not getting fired. I'd bet 20 bucks not fired tommorow. If you take my bet and you get fired at least you have my 20 bux?

Show him the circumcision scar your (imaginary) girlfriend forced on you. Maybe he'll take pity on you and let you stay on as the janitor custodial engineer.

It's not necessarily bad. The last time I got a "we need to talk" from my employer, I was told one of my (horrible) co-workers was quitting, and we needed to hire a replacement. Besides, if they were going to fire you, they probably wouldn't give you any heads up first.
