My BMW keeps "waking up"

Any reason why a car needs to do this? If I sit in the car for about 15 mins after shutting it off completely the car will "wake up" on it's own. I'll hear a whirling noise like a pump or fan starting up and the cd/dvd player spins up the disc inside. What annoys me is the BT audio adapter, powered by a USB port, will power up as well and automatically synch with my phone and now the audio will be blaring through the stereo when I just want it through the phone. Not the end of the world but damn annoying though.

If you sit in the car for extended periods (Fiat/Chrysler cars seem to have this issue too) just chuck the fob out the window as far as you can. My Toyota does a weirder thing; if it's unlocked it will lock itself.

What year is your BMW? I've never had mine do that even when I've got the FOB on me. That said remember your keyfob is a wireless logging device. Most maintenance guidelines when you're working on the cars electrical system tell you to make sure the FOB is at least 15 feet away to ensure it doesn't try to wake the car up.

That's what most people call a feature. I miss it from my BRZ. Car locks itself, and unlocks itself when I went to get in.

08 328 with iDrive. I've read that a few people had the problem of the car never going into "sleep" and draining the battery. Mine wakes up but after about 3 or 4 minutes it'll go back to sleep (power to USB shuts off). I haven't tried it without the keyfob in the car to see if it's detecting that and waking up.
