My Biggest Gripe With the MacBook Pro

I finally gave up, which is the shame, because I love the MacBook Pro. Sleek interface, OS X is excellent, dual boot...the thing is a dream. THE SCREEN RESOLUTION KILLS ME...anybody else have this problem? Why can't that gorgeous 15.4" screen be 1680 or optionally 1900? I just can't seem to have enough windows open to multitask without pulling my hair out.

Seriously...if they upped the resolution, I could live happily as an Apple fanboy. Well, that and some better AutoCAD support. Until then, it's Dell for me.

Is this a deal breaker for anybody else? Am I being unreasonable?

I don't think you are being unreasonable, and there have been reports of people transplanting in WUXGA screens into their MacBook Pros, though I haven't seen anyone do it on an nVidia MBP. Now, about your AutoCAD problem.... that can be cured by dual booting.

I'm quite happy with the resolution. Any more and the text size would be just a bit too small.

But yeah, if you want a higher resolution, you have to go elsewhere.

I have 15.4" Dell with 1680x1050 and it is great for serious work, but for casual reading or fun (games)... not so

So it is a trade off.

Now that I'm done with school I wish that my screen has resolution 1440x900.

I have 1680x1050 on my 20.1 inch monitor... I can't imagine it on a 15.4 inch. The pixel density would definitely strain my eyes. Then again, I do set all my fonts and window boarders to very small settings...

I have 1440x1050 on my 12 inch laptop. It took some getting used to, but it looks fine.

But I can see how a lot of people wouldn't like that kind of resolution on such a tiny screen.

You mean the gorgeous screen with a big dollop of yellow at the bottom?

I've never seen the yellow issue on any of my friend's MacBook Pros... I thought that had been more or less completely sorted out.
