That is really sad.

I can't imagine how I would deal with something like that.
Stay strong.

As others have said and you surely know by now, It sucks when this happens. Lost one of my best friends 5 years ago, still think about him every day.

That really fucking blows. He was way too young to die.

My cousin died in a car accident when she was 14, same age as me. Many aspects of our family have never been the same since.

His name was Jacob Stephen Gordon. He was 16 years old, was driving to his dads house for dinner and hit black ice and slid into oncoming traffic. He had a 2001 Toyota Celica, none of the airbags went off. The right rear of the car was demolished and when I saw it (his mom asked me to get his things from the vehicle) I could barely stand. He was an honor roll student, and the best friend anyone could have. When I was in high school, my senior year I had family problems, and they took me in for three months. The world is never going to be the same again to me. If anyone ever played a game with him or talked to him in another forum, he usually used the name jacob42369. Im going to miss him. I dont know how to deal with it. The week before final exams and right before christmas. His mom already had presents for him. He had his computer with him in the car (he was a computer geek like me) and me and another friend of his are rebuilding it just like it was for his sister. Why do bad things happen to such good people?

do you live in Iowa?

No, we live in Illinois, about 40 miles south of Chicago.

Everyone just drive safe, tell your friends and family to do the same. I've stayed at his house since it happened. His mom asked me to be a pallbearer last night. I think thats when it really hit me hard.

Sorry to hear that. 🙁

Best thing you can do is be there for his family and try to remember the good times and the best things about your friend.

You have my deepest sympathy.

🙁 Spend as much time with family and friends as you can over the holidays to help each other heal. 🙁

another sad reminder for all of us...PLEASE live your life to the fullest....

something I heard recently:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

The wake was today. I feel a little better about the whole ordeal. I got to talk to him and give him a hug goodbye. Im going to miss him though. The funeral is tomorrow. I'm going to be a pallbearer, I dont know if I'll be able to hold my composure.

sorry for your loss..... we all should cherish every moment of our lives as if it's our last...

i hit black ice once on my suv, it did a 360 to the other lane, hit the guard rail, and bounced back to my lane, then into the wall, attached to the mountain... i was lucky to be able to walk away from that.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. The funeral was today and he's at peace now. At least I know that when my time comes, I'll be able to spend more time with him. I'm going to go visit him at the cemetery in a few days. I know he would call me a homo if I brought him flowers, so I'm thinking a few sticks of ram would make him smile. Drive safe everyone.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

That last part just made me chuckle because I know a few friends that would think the same thing if showed up at their funeral with flowers 🙂

I'm so sorry for your loss. I experienced the same thing last year when I lost one of my very good friends suddenly. It was one of the hardest things I've had to experience - you're right the world isn't the same without that person. But I know for sure that the world is a better place because of him. And I'm sure it is because of your friend too.

Again, I'm sorry. My heart goes out to you and his family.

I hit a patch last year, did almost the exact same thing only there was no other traffic. I was very lucky.
