My baseboard heater makes a humming noise

So I was lying down on the couch, getting ready to go to sleep because we're painting in the bedroom and I noticed that my baseboard heater was making a very loud buzzing/humming noise. I turned the lights on and went over to the heater to check it out. It seems like if I'm touching the heater, it doesn't make much noise. As soon as I take my foot off of it it gets loud again. This is kind of an on and off phenomenon. I've googled a little but haven't managed to find an explanation. Can any electricians or handymen here clue me in?

I noticed that as well with my baseboard heaters. They're doing it all the time, you just don't notice it until everything is completley quiet.
