My barton just keeps on getting better

I've had this for maybe about a month now and I noticed a significant decrease in temps (64 -> 59C max load). I was at 1.8V 11x200 so I tried 1.75V 11x200, and boom just looped 3dmark and prime overnight and its rock solid stable. I'm now running 48C idle down from about 54! Any of you guys' bartons doing better?

note sure yet, i got a barton 2500+ about 2 months ago and never had a chance to oc it, now that i have an nf7 and some ch-5 ram its humming along nicely at 2406mhz (200X12) @1.75V

temps are right around 47C idle and 52C load

i'm sure with 1.8V it could do 2500-2600mhz

benches in sandra with the exception of memory bandwidth put it right at or faster than a 3.2ghz P4 which is nice

I seriously doubt it... Bartons tend to hit a wall at 2.4 Ghz no matter how much voltage you give it. Of course there are exceptions, but they're rare.

What kind of heat sinks are you running and are the 2500+s unlocked from the factory or did you have to do something to them first? I'm getting one and a SLK800 with a schtonking Delta 68cfm fan, so I hope it's nice and chilly-chill.

I'm using an SK-7 with a 4500 RPM 70mm fan.

The motherboard you have determines whether you can change the CPU multiplier, and what you can change it to.

If your using Arctic Silver then the temp drops simply mean the paste is just setting in.

i've got an SK-7 with a SUPER crappy blue LED fan that runs at about 21db and has very low cfm. I'm looking to upgrade to a panaflo L1A soon.

I actually believe you :D but even with this severe overclock the Pentium 3.2 SMT (Northwood C) is far beyond your reach. I mean the 3.2 GHz Pentium you are comparing your setup to is Northwood B. And you are loosing a lot more than memory bandwidth benches. You floating point benches are also behind 3.2 Nortwood B.
Also the temperatures you are getting in NF7-S are core temps, not the surface ones. Meaning the actual surface temps are 10-15 C higher.
I know that since I have NF7-S and I run Barton 2500 on it at 2.2 GHz with SK-7 as well. My core temps are 38-40C and surface is about 50C.
If you have Asus or Giga-Byte motherboard you would see the real temperatures.

that's a pretty low 3dm2k1 score for a "9500" modded to a 9700...

i get 15284 with a ti4200

anyway

that's not bad your temps

well i didn't overclock it at all, but it is running at 9700 speeds since i saw my fill rate double. plus, your cpu and ram fsb (probably) far outclasses my 200x11 3200.
