They saw a transaction on my account which looked suspicious, got in contact with me and provided 24*7 service to stop any credit card fraud.

That's called service!

It was fake, to give you a sense of protection and keep you with them.
They will hit you with fees today. jk...

Chase has done that to me a few times in recent years.

At least they called, I've had my bank lock my account before without notice and go to use my card and get denied, only to call my bank to be informed that they locked it due to suspicious activity.

actually, do u have any ideas how that work?

suspicious activities on your account that flagged in their system. now they look at it to see what happen. this is HARDLY service and they are doing it for THEIR best interests, not yours. why? because they would be paying for your bills if they don't act quick.

404, Your bank awesomeness not found.

Do you have Amex?

I got an email about the exact same issue. Someone tried to buy $700 plane tickets in Kansas (I'm in jersey) and I got an email right away. Called them and said I had no idea wtf it was and they stopped the charges immediately.

Pretty much this, but it's in both parties best interests to have fraudulent charges found out quickly and fixed obviously.

But wouldn't these charges come right out of your account anyway, which would mean less money in the account and less money for the bank to gain interest off of? So actually wouldn't be in the banks best interest IMO.

Chase has done this for me several times. All CC companies monitor your transactions for suspicions activities.

Lies... you were trying to pay off the deficit with your credit card.
