just a warning your z87 chipset mobo may or may not
work with the new 4000 series cpus.
I wanted a cheap upgrade from 3.0 g3220 cpu to
i3 4170 3.7 ghz. but no go. black screen.
the asus website says 1401 (did not try)
but when u click the GO button it gives u a
download to the 1402 bios version.
so, I dl the 1402, flashed, went ok, replaced
the cpu (twice) and black screens.
and yes, my bios setup says the new 1402 bios is present.
I am running my old g3220 now to write this msg.
if anyone is running the 4170 3.7 on a asus z87-k,
please msg me how ya got things running !

thanks for the tip.
I did not know today ya have to use Windows to update the bios.
I dl all those files, and the first updater is W32 Windows so
did not run in DOS, so I used the third updater V1.30 dos.
Anyways, I ran the W32 Updater in Windows and it did a lot of stuff.
Later will reinstall the cpu. Am beat now.
thanks again. -mh
