My arms, they don't like to grow

As far as bulking arms, it doesn't really apply right now since I'm not working on arms right now, but nonetheless, a problem.

That picture shows the areas that I am talking about. It's like my biceps don't exist in that area, even if I bulk my arms a little (which I've done in the past) that area just does not bulk at all. Like my biceps would get bigger while that areas remains flat. It seems to even cave in a little when I flex. I'm self conscious about this because it makes my arms look infantile. Any ways to target that area specifically? or is this genetic?

Much appreciated.

It's kind of a basic physiological limitation. When flexed, the muscle really shortens and isn't elongated enough to fill that space. If it WERE longer, then it wouldn't be very efficient at contraction. Going from long to only a little bit shorter wouldn't really be a big benefit. Muscles mainly work by going long to much, much shorter. Clearly it would put arm at a disadvantage... I dunno, man, it's really hard to gain arm size in general, let alone at that specific area.

As in the same gap that Arnold has in this picture here?

If so, genetic.

Hmm... yeah, that area.. well that kinda sucks...
This happens to varying degrees for different people though?

Also, my muscle on my arms grow in terms of the bulge but doesn't get thicker...

This is confusing

How much do you weigh and how long have you been training?

You need to put on 'overall size' to pack on decent arm size. Very few people can just pack on a decent chunk of size on to their arm without gaining overall size.

Also note for some people they have relatively short upper arms/ short limb lengths in general so it doesn't take much to get arms that look big. 15" arms for a short 5'4 guy with short limb lengths look HUGE when 15" on a 6" guy with long arms look small.

I read somewhere that once your 180-185lbs to get an extra inch on your arm takes roughly 15lbs of mass.

I can't say with any authority but I think it's probably genetic. My brother-in-law has the same "problem" and he works out a lot.

Yup yup. At 6'6" with 16.5" arms I still feel like I got work to do.

What was that article on here were the dude told the kids to start squatting if they wanted bigger arms. They laughed at first but after 3 months they had added inches.

Definitely IcebergSlim. Hammer the squats, deadlifts, chin ups, dips (60% of your arms are triceps!) and your arms will grow.

But don't expect 17" if you weigh 155lbs man...
