My AOL IM icon in the system tray is freaking out...anyone seen this before?

In my system tray, i have my little yellow "buddy" surrounded by a blue circle to show i'm online, BUT, ever other second, there's a little "buddy" flashing across that icon, and he's holding some little yellow flag in his hand or something....

this just started today

i feel like it's saying there's an error or something, but i've never seen this before!

anyone know what i'm talking about?

grrr...ya see, i run dual monitors, and when i try to take screenshots, i run out of memory for some reason! (too big for clipboard)

even when i try 3rd party screenshot proggies, it doesn't work

i'll see what i can do though....this is really really weird!

edit: hmmm...i *think* it means i've been contacted by "aim phone"

what's that? how do i get the little dude to go away?

is it the icon next to outlook?
i think it means you got new mail
(a yellow mail in your mailbox, with red flag going up)
look in your aim setup, under mail tab, if it's checking for new mails or not .......

if it's the icon next to the clock, then i don't know ...

yeah, the icon to the right of outlook (2nd over from the clock)

it's the regular aol icon but with a dude in front of it

AIM isn't set to check any maill...hmmm

edit: that little icon directly to the left of the clock is a screen capture program icon

I get that on my Aim when my sister jumps on the computer. I'm not sure what it is either, but i think that icon pops up when she checks her mail through aol.com.

This means AIM is checking your email. When that comes up, it means you have email in the account it's set to check. I have it check my main email(dont have AOL mail), so whenever I sign onto AIM, if that flashes, I have mail. Whenever I get a new message it also flashes.

well, even though i have NO e-mail setup, aol seems to have checked SOMETHING

anyway, to make it go away, i was able to uncheck a box whereby no icon appears when you have new mail....and the little dude stopped blinking...finally!
