Hi,

I was just thinking of OCing My AMD Athlon II 640. So downloaded cpu-z and found that the core speed it shows is only 803 MHz

Want to know whats wrong, screenshot attached.

It's just idling. Modern processors run at slower speed until needed to save power. You can turn it off in BIOS but it won't change your experience.

For AMD it's called Cool'n'Quiet
For Intel its called SpeedStep if you want to google it.

Oh great, thank you friends. How to test it out to get the full speed? any software?

Any thing that puts a high level of stress on the processor. It's worth noting your processor has 4 different speed bins, so it won't immediately jump up to 3.0Ghz when under load.

Just set your power profile in Windows to Desktop or High-Performance and it will disable cool-and-quiet without you having to go into the bios.

I don't think 201 would be considered "OCed" for the FSB for that chip. Is it supposed to be something different?

Thanks, when running occt I got error occurred. I see that the FSB is OCed to 201 though I dont think I had done any OCing.

That's not a good sign. That means that your system is unstable. If you are at stock speeds (no overclocking), then something might be wrong.

The default is 200 Mhz but I see that its 200.9 Mhz. how to check if its OCed or at stock speeds?
