I aim to get back to my fit self at 67kgs. I am currently 82kgs and am around 5'10-5'11 tall. It's going to be hard right now as I can't walk much or do exercise cause I have a fractured leg. But I will try to cut it to 3 meals a day and fruit for dessert.

Wish me luck!

Also, should we have an official weight loss thread where we pledge our intentions instead of creating new threads each time?

Time to burn those carbs

If I were you I'd just try to maintain your weight until your leg heals and when it does then try to improve your fitness.

Converting those weight measurements for us uncivilized queen's measurement users, thats

180.4 --> 147.4

Question - I assume you are planning to lose fat and not weight as in muscle included?

Also, I was an invalid for a while before, and let me tell you, its absolutely easy putting on weight. even the most innocuous foods - not the big mac types - pack a punch when you arent doing much activity the whole day. And after a while, when the initial meds wear off and your appetite returns, its hard not eating as much as you're used to, even though your body requires less.

I recommend lots of veggies. and fruits - mostly fibrous products that fill you up pretty quickly but don't give you much of calories. Also, white meat would be good. And I read somewhere that if you fidget all day, that adds up to a few hundred calories :)

However, keep in mind that your body is healing and needs the necessary raw materials. Here's my recommendation - next time you go in for your checkup, why dont you talk to your doctor about this? he can probably prescribe a decent diet and maybe point to some mild exercises.

Take care and I hope you heal faster. There's nothing more frustrating than wanting to get into shape, but not being able to do so because of an injury. Makes you realize just how much you take your legs and arms for granted. Just resolve that when you get better, you aren't going to waste their potential again :D

We have a thread named Goals for 2008 where you can state your goals. Also, I would really consider waiting until after your leg is healed to do this. For one, you would have to have access to an arms only cardio machine and on top of that, can you imagine the stink of your cast from working out so much? Ugh. Really though, you should use a calorie counter such as fitday.com or sparkpeople.com so you can count your calories and not your meals. If you're still eating over maintenance, you'll continue to gain weight whether it's in 3 meals or not.

67kg at your current height is gonna look real skinny. I'm only ~5'7" and I'm ~72kg. Is there a reason why you want to be 67kg?

I would have to agree here, that seems very light. I would be 185 at 10% body fat @ 5' 10" with the amount of lean body mass I have (and I haven't been working out for very long) so that looks pretty low.

Hey guys an update. Im now down to 80 by keeping it to three meals a day. I think I just rapidly put on weight by eating too many snacks so by restricting that I am a lot lighter. I do get hungry between meals but my dad always says its good to be a touch hungry even after you finish a meal (no good to overeat).

The reason I am looking at 67kg is cause thats what I've always been. I don't have much muscle but run and play sports alot (so im kinda "lean"). Plus I play basketball, so I'm thinking lighter = more jumping :D

I am eating alot of vegies, milk and I should increase my daily water as well (to purify). I'm feeling a lot healthier!

Thanks for the advice guys  , I am now waiting for my leg to heal before getting into physical activity

Lighter is useful to an extent, but you also need power and strength for basketball, none of which comes from being skinny.

Agreed. Look at most of the NBA players. Although they are tall, they are built pretty strong. I think you may be at a disadvantage because people will be able to push you around. Think it through - maybe think about doing some strength training. *Shrugs* All in all, it's your decision, I'm just looking to optimize your b-ball game :)
