Mine doesnt, but then again, all I need to do is turn it on and pick a temp, then my townhouse stays at that temp until I change it otherwise. For something that I'm going to adjust once or twice per day (At MOST) ... I don't need a remote.

the one in my bedroom does. it's nice.

if I wake up in the middle of the night and I'm hot/cold, I can adjust the AC without having to get out of bed.

Actually, it's more comical that you need to use yours most of the year...:p

very carfefully, so it falls on passerby's that walk under it

I have central A/C as well as two backup window units. sometimes the compressor fries the wires and it stops working. It's been jimmy-rigged so many times I can't believe it still runs. the unit upstairs in my attic is 28yrs old.

Mine has one too. I  it.
Set timer before I leave work....A/C is off all day long, kicks on at 5, I'm home at 5:30, and my apt is nice and cool :D
11,600 BTUs, built in pollen/allergen filter, and dehumidifier. I almost couldn't fit it in the window...1 more inch total width and it wouldn't have worked!
Brand new, $200 shipped to my door, courtesy of Ebay.

Oh, I wouldn't trade for the east coast's horribly humid and...clammy climate for a million dollars. I've lived there, I feel like I'm drowning when I go back.
