My Abit KR7A-Raid won't boot up!

I have recently installed this motherboard in my computer with the Athalon XP 1800 but nothing in the computer turns on except one small LED on the board. HELP!

I am having the same problem, ironically, with the same processor. Everything is hooked up right, I turn it on, it sounds like it usually does, but nothing appears on the screen, won't post... what kind of RAM do you have?

This could help...

Post your configuration...

Make sure there are no brass standoffs hitting the mobo and shorting it out..I have this mobo and when I first installed there were 2 standoffs hitting the board that shorted...

Also make sure the cpu and ram are well seated in the board....

Try only video card, memory and cpu to see if it will post and you can enter the bios..if that goes well add your other cards..

Also

AGP
PCI 2
PCI 4 & 6 should be used for cards...PCI 1 and AGP share/PCI 2&3 share/PCI 5 shares with the HPT372 raid/IDE controller/PCI4&6 share with usb and serial

I would recommend leaving PCI 1, 3,5 open..also if you do not use parallel port and serial ports disable them in the bios to avoid IRQ conflicts...

If you are not using the HPT controller you can populate PCI slot 5 with no IRQ worries...

Thanks nealh! You were right, the board was actually making contact withe the back of my case. The case has a slight concave area which was grounding the standoffs. I just covered the back with parchment parper as a quick fix.

I had this same problem too, but the problem was that the CPU was being detected as a 1500+ instead of 1800+ ....I had to reset the BIOS, boot it up and change that setting in the Soft menu.
