My 9800GX2 first impressions about performance

So you have one working card and one DOA? Case closed then I suppose, return the DOA card for a new one and get back to the thread title about performance. :)

yeah, that's the plan. i was in denial up until i was able to try another. i thought it was my mobo and was hoping it was a bios update needed. :(

That is a shame. Hopefully your RMA will not take too long.

Yeah, hopefully before his roommate gets back lol. At least he isolated the problem fairly quickly and has another card to use in the meantime. DOA vid card is just about the worst thing, especially in a new build and you don't have something else to use in the meantime. Can spend hours troubleshooting and have no use of your PC......ugh.

Edit: Nanaki, also go through your e-tailer as that'll typically be the fastest and least painful route to RMA.

i have a distributor i go through so it should be taken care of by monday. my roommate is out of town until monday evening, so i may just keep his for now :D

i have a few more unopened ones sitting under my desk too :)

It might be a good idea to check the ones under your desk for faults :)
