That sucks. Should get him a nice wheelchair. Much more mobile. Though old people can be stubborn about that stuff. Maybe get a 4WD one that runs on diesel.

PS SunnyD; Shut up

Wish your Father well, and strengh for you and your family . Round here assisted living means you get checked on about every two hours . Not 24/7 .

Still, a fall that severe (severe enough to cause seizures?) means whatever was going on there should be someone nearby this location or individual where it happened. Yeah, even a simple fall can be pretty bad, but it's rare. The mere fact this happened in an assisted community seems to imply some sort of dereliction of care happened for the patient... unless there was a history of issues with this patient, in which case an aide should be assigned to him at all times regardless.

It only implies something if you are sue crazy or if you have never vistied or worked in such a facility!

Visit your dad often & at random times. You need to get to know the people in the facility & monitor & ask questions ... nicely.

Any update?

Yes, sorry, I was out of town trying to visit him but apparently the flu is so rampant they have the place quarantined and aren't letting anyone in or out.

The back story (that I was unaware of when I posted the OP) is that he had a bad stomach flu or some sort of food poisoning so lots of diarrhea and vomiting. He was quite dehydrated and weak and was on the toilet when he felt like he was going to throw up. When he reached for the trashcan that's when he fell off the toilet and hit his head. I can only assume a combination of weakness,

He went into the hospital about 8pm EDT Friday and was released back to his facility about 1:30am Saturday. He says his head hurts and tylenol is helping but he still can't keep anything down and is very dizzy and weak and can't hardly even stand on his own. He says the aides are checking on him often making sure he is at least trying to eat crackers and ice chips / drink ginger ale / water / sprite.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers! Update in the OP as well.
